Blogging Styles
When it comes to blogging styles, there are many different approaches and each style comes with its own unique set of rules. First and foremost the most important rule that applies to all styles is that your content should always be fresh. Another important element is the originality and work that goes into each blog post. The most successful articles are the ones with interesting topics and excellent writing. Your blog should be interesting to a niche audience.
Depending on what you want to achieve from your blog there are many different blogging styles that can be used.
Brand Blogging: A blog about your brand and the products and/or services you offer. Brand blogging will offer an informative look at the brand and should include positive features that are part of your offerings.
Guest Blogging: Guest blogging is where your write with the objective of having it posted on someone else’s blog. This type of blog generally promotes a great deal of discussion and the write and the guest blogger both benefit.
Insight Blogging: Blog postings that share ideas, thoughts, and the discussion of trends in a particular niche. This type of blogging is more formal and less “fun” than the other types. However, it is considered valuable and will generally carry on the discussion quite far.
List Blogging: List blogging is a style used by many bloggers. If you search online for any subject you will almost always find articles that discuss the “top…” number of something in your results. People find these articles to be interesting and useful.
Photo Blogging: If you have a business where photographs effectively tell your story, then this is the approach for you. You may/may not want to include captions with the photos. However, you may find those to be unnecessary, depending on what you are trying to express with your photographs.
Review Blogging: Review blogging is where you give your opinion on a new product or service. Other people love to give their opinions on the product/service as well. Before you know it you will have a long list of valuable comments!
Video Blogging: Video blogging is an extremely effective marketing tool. Videos are effective because they are aesthetically appealing. Videos appeal to a wide range of audiences because of the convenience they provide people who are on the go and don’t have time to sit down and read.
The Most important thing to remember when it comes to choosing your blogging style is that the tone of the style matches the content that is being offered, and your blog expresses your passion for your topic of choice.
Happy Blogging!
Convert your site to WordPress
Why choose WordPress?
The customization opportunities are endless and the large number of available plugins and themes make it easy to achieve the look and functionality you want. Content management features built into WordPress allow users to easily create website pages and posts. We use it daily, and think you should too.
The conversion process involves creating a custom WordPress theme that matches your current website, or a whole new design that best represents your brand. We then migrate all of your content to the WordPress Dashboard.
Why should you convert?
There are many reasons why you should, but there are also reasons not to covert. We will get to those later. The first and most obvious benefit is that the site content will be available to be managed from a content management editor, much like Microsoft Word, instead of having to use raw HTML to edit it. This gives YOU that’s right; you have the power to update your website on your own. This not only saves you time – which is crucial, but we also want to help you save your money. Although we are not opposed to the idea of you paying us to do the work for you.
The behind the scenes “stuff” that makes WordPress sites so powerful is the fact that they are optimized for search engines automatically. If this isn’t enough, there are a wide variety of SEO plugins that are available for free and can be installed in a few clicks.
Why should you not convert?
If your current site already runs on a content management system that offers the same benefits or if your static site is optimized to where it has all of these features built into the static pages, this could be a good reason not to convert. We do suggest advancing your website with the latest and the greatest so why not look into WordPress and receive a quote from us. Optimization requires a lot of work, and most websites are not as optimized as they should be and some not at all. Let us help you find out.
The great thing about WordPress is it is easy to learn and easy to update. WordPress notifies you of new releases to their core files, as well as any plugins that you’ve installed for your site.
We want to give YOU the power of updating your website. Contact us if you are ready to take control and bring out the inner nerd in you. We will gladly help you revamp your website and give you advice and tips on how to update your new WordPress website.

When developing websites using WordPress, developers tend to create their own personal toolbox of snippets and other helpful assets that make the development process smoother and more productive from start to finish. Here are 10 wonderful snippets I’ve found from Snipplr that can be added to any developer’s toolbox.
1) Display Latest Blog Posts on Any WordPress Page
-
<?php
-
$postslist = get_posts( $args );
-
foreach ($postslist as $post) : setup_postdata($post); ?>
-
<div>
-
<?php the_time(); ?>
-
<?php the_title(); ?>
-
<?php the_excerpt(); ?>
-
<?php the_category(‘, ‘); ?>
-
</div>
-
<?php endforeach; ?>
-
-
-
-
Notice the div around the_time, the_title, the_excerpt and the_category. You can wrap html elements to fit and style any of these functions.
-
-
the_time will display the time of the post. use the_time instead of the_date.
-
http://codex.wordpress.org/Formatting_Date_and_Time
-
-
the_title will display the post title.
-
-
the_excerpt will display the post excerpt which defaults to 55 characters unless specified by a filter in functions.php. currently the twenty-ten theme sets the excerpt character limit.
-
-

FoxyPress: New WordPress Plugin
Today we are proud to announce the first WordPress plugin that integrates FoxyCart into your website. This plugin allows you to quickly and easily add products to your WordPress pages and posts with a few clicks.

6 Performance Enhancing WordPress Plugins
WordPress, like any other CMS, eventually fills with clutter and unused entries within its database, which in turn can reduce the performance of the website. At first, performance issues won’t be noticed, but after awhile, especially after traffic has increased on the site, your website is clunky and takes a longer time to load than it used to. Now what?
Thankfully, WordPress has a strong community and an abundance of plugins. Here are some of the plugins I use on my own site to improve performance and to keep a clean and optimal database.
1) Bulk Delete
This plugin allows a person to delete drafts, revisions, pending posts, scheduled posts, private posts, and draft pages all in one fell swoop. Use with caution, because once they’re deleted, they’re gone (unless of course, you decide to move them to the trash instead).
