“There’s an app for that.”

An expression that’s as common as me telling friends and family that this is the year for my beloved Chicago Bears. There’s an app for just about anything. To make us more efficient professionals, there are options like taking a picture of a piece of paper and automatically converting it to a PDF. To kick bad habits like smoking or even biting your nails, we don’t have to look any further than our smartphones with apps like Quit It and Stop Biting Nails. Then, when we have a few moments to ourselves and looking to pass time, we can fly through space or even toss a piece of paper into a trash can with a flick of a finger.

They’re important in the manner that regardless of what their premise is, they’re able to be reached by the targeted end user. With the right user experience, these same individuals could be checking it every day which leaves us top of mind instead of placed on the back burner. While we continue to put an emphasis on building the best app possible, it’s just as important to keep that same attention to detail to your website.

Your website is your home. Your opportunity to build a place that potential customers and existing partners can go to see what you’re all about, what you’ve been up to and how you’ve been growing. It’s the time and place for you to shine without ever having to have a time limit while always donning your Sunday’s best. Don’t get me wrong, having a native site that’s properly formatted on mobile devices is absolutely imperative with one in five people throughout the world owning a smartphone since 2013 (Business Insider, http://www.businessinsider.com/smartphone-and-tablet-penetration-2013-10).

As you approach your mobile and web strategy, here are few items to keep in mind:

  • Websites Aren’t Going Away: We are in the rise of new technology and different mediums that we can view information on. Through all this, it’s still vital to have a web presence.
  • Put In The Necessary Time, Money and Budget: Regardless of what you’re selling, providing or building, a proper way to represent it is necessary. Your site is a direct reflection of you and your credibility to customers and clients new and old.
  • Keep Current via Social Media: Making sure to keep your website up to date can be hard, so integrating social media feeds into your site is an easy way to keep your site looking active.

When considering all factors of your digital approach, be sure not to stray too far from the basics. After all, there’s a reason they’re called, ‘The Basics’. They represent the core principles of developing an effective online presence through tried-and-true methods. Continue to test the waters and take calculated risks, but also ensure you’re well buttoned-up with your website to leave that desired lasting impression. It’s not going away anytime soon.
